Interlaken, Switzerland is well-known for its extreme activities culture. They’ve got it all from canyon jumping to canyoning (not to be confused with one another), from skydiving to paragliding, from skiing to snowboarding and if normal sledding in the Swiss Alps isn’t edgy enough for you then let your wild side sled through the pitch black with night sledding. But this winter there are a few activities that are must do’s while you’re in Interlaken:
Going paragliding with Paragliding Interlaken is the perfect combination of adrenaline and exploration. This adventure begins with a short but beautiful ride from Interlaken to Beatenberg Amisbühl. From there, you grab all of your paragliding gear and walk a few minutes to your jump off point. Once you are all harnessed in and ready to go, you run for a few minutes until your feet keep going but suddenly there is no ground under them anymore. This is the perfect transition for those looking to avoid the whole “dropping of the stomach” feel you get when on a roller coaster. The best part of this activity is that you get to see Interlaken from a bird’s eye view and slowly make your way back down to town.
If you want to feel like Tarzan swinging through the forest, then look no further. With 9 different ropes courses and 120 different challenges at 20 meters high, Winter Adventure Park will give you just the excitement and adventure you have been looking for. From swings, zip lines and bridges, you’ll have every experience under the sun on these courses! If you want a fun day of climbing through the trees, swinging through the forest and ziplining among the beautiful Swiss landscape, this is the activity for you.
Not only is night sledding extreme and fun, but it includes a fondue dinner at the end. Can you possibly think of anything better than that? Once you get all kitted out at Outdoor Interlaken with your proper snow gear, you hop into a van and take a scenic ride into the Swiss Alps.
From there, you hop into a gondola to make sure you are high enough to make the sledding adventures last as long as possible. And then, the child in you comes out to play as you zip down the mountain for an hour with nothing but the moon and stars lighting the way. Of course, all of the excitement works makes you work up an appetite so you finish the night off with a delicious cheese fondue dinner and a beer.
So what is a Schilthorn? Is it a food, a place, an activity? Schilthorn is a mountain summit among the Swiss Alps. If you’re a hiker, enjoy the outdoors and want to walk throughout the Alps, this is the activity for you! This journey will take you on three different levels until you reach the top of the summit. The first level is Mürren, a fabulous spot to enjoy the view around you before you embark on your journey up the mountain. The next stop is Berg, where you stand 2677 meters above sea level and can walk to the observation deck and see the beautiful view of the valley below. Lastly, a cable car takes you on a journey for the last couple hundred meters up to the summit of Schilthorn.
