An Exclusive Look Inside FICO Eataly World

A theme park boasting the best of Italy’s pizza, pasta, pastries, and all the cheese, FICO Eataly World seems like it may be a product of your wildest carb dreams. The cool news? (FICO is slang for cool in Italian, after all.) This massive Italian food and wine paradise based right outside Bologna is not only real, but finally ready to welcome foodies worldwide and Bus2alps during our free trip to Bologna & FICO Eataly World.

Spanning almost 25 acres, visitors can stroll through open-air fields with 200 animals and learn about food processing by visiting any of the 40 farming factories on the land. Twenty-one food experience workshops are offered, and with tempting course titles like “A Passion for Pizza,” “From Vine to Wine” and “Farming Formaggio,” it’ll be hard to prioritize which Italian secrets you need to bring home to your kitchen. (Aspiring food-grammer? There’s also “Food Photography!”)

After dining in one of the 45 restaurants to choose from, pick up truffle oil, fresh vegetables, or even eco-friendly cosmetics at the extensive marketplace filled with authentic Italian products. Eataly World has even upped their shopping cart game by providing adult-sized tricycles complete with shopping baskets, custom designed by Italian bike makers Bianchi. Additionally, six large “rides” based off Eataly’s elements (fire, earth, sea, animals, bottled goods and the future) and even an area devoted to activity and sports help to shape Eataly World into a one-of-a-kind theme park.
