Finally, explore the ruins of Pompeii while admiring Mt. Vesuvius.
Don’t miss out on our favorite tour, but don’t just take our word for it. The Bus2alps Amalfi Coast trip is award-winning, named the #1 Tour in Europe from TourRadar!
The trip meets at near the Termini Train Station, a direct location to be provided via email in advance of the trip. You’ll meet your trip leader 30 minutes prior to departure. Travel to the Amalfi Coast is by private, coach bus with A/C and a DVD player. We arrive at our accommodation and you’ll check-in to your room for the weekend.
Friday morning we set sail for the Island of Capri. Once we arrive at the port, we embark on our private tour around the island, taking in the beauty of the island from the glittering blue waters below!
A highlight of the boat tour is the visit to the Blue Grotto (optional entrance). If you choose to enter the cave, you will be transferred directly from our boat into small row boats that will bring you into the grotto (weather permitting, price not included). We will then continue around the island and learn more about the history of this island that was frequented by Roman emperors as well as modern-day celebrities.
At the end of the boat tour, your trip leader will walk you up to Capri Town. From here you’ll have a chance to take in the sweeping views of Marina Grande below and cool off with a refreshing orange or lemon granita. Our private transport will then bring us further up to the town of Anacapri, the highest part of the island, where we will be welcomed with a free sample of chocolate and limoncello at our local partner’s sandal shop! These artisans have been crafting hand-made sandals for over 50 years.
The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore! We recommend riding the chairlift to the top of Mount Solaro to get a breathtaking 360-degree view of the island (ticket included!), grabbing a unique pair of custom-made sandals, and having a delicious lunch at one of the great restaurants that your trip leader can point out to you! You also have the option of checking out the rest of the island or hanging out on the beach down by Marina Grande. We will depart from Marina Grande in the afternoon to head back to our accommodation.
Friday night our group will enjoy an included dinner and then have the option to explore downtown Sorrento. The town is full of restaurants and boutiques and along the cliffside, you’ll have sweeping views of the entire peninsula.
Saturday morning we depart by ferry to Positano. Positano is world-famous for the colorful stacked buildings built into the cliff-side. Once in Positano, your trip leader will point out our favorite local spot for sandwiches, snacks, and drinks. We can also recommend other local restaurants if you prefer a sit-down Italian-style lunch. You will then spend the afternoon relaxing on the black stone beach, swimming in the sparkling blue waters, and browsing the many shops of Positano, a town known for its ceramics and lace! It is also possible to rent a boat, kayaks, or stand-up paddleboards while there (availability based on the season & weather). We return to Sorrento late afternoon.
Saturday night you have free to yourself to either kick back at your accommodation or head into Sorrento for a night exploring the town and grabbing a bite to eat.
Sunday morning after breakfast and checking out of our accommodation we depart for Pompeii via private coach. The entrance to Pompeii is included, should you be interested in visiting with a licensed guide you can join the optional 1.5 hour guided tour (additional cost). We recommend joining the tour as the guides paint a picture of life in Pompeii during the Roman era and bring life to the ruins. After, we suggest grabbing a bite to eat before we head back to Rome in the early afternoon.
Blue Grotto: Entrance into the site includes a rowboat ride into the famous fluorescent blue cave.
Positano Water Activities: It is possible to rent a boat, go sea kayaking, rent stand-up paddleboards, purchase floaties, and more while on Positano’s beaches. Availability based on the season & weather.
