Head to the marble city of Split and enjoy optional trips like river rafting or boating along the coast!
Depart by coach bus from Florence Thursday evening (typically at 21:00*) and drive overnight to untouched Croatia! Upon arrival in Split Friday morning (arrival times vary due to traffic and border control at the Croatian border, but typically range between 09:00 – 11:00).The weekend is then yours to choose from a variety of optional activities such as rafting down the emerald green Cetina River, zip lining in the Omiš valley, wandering through the marble ruins of Diocletian’s Palace, or sailing the Dalmatian Coast to discover the beautiful beaches at the Blue Lagoon. For the long weekend, take an optional day trip on Saturday to Dubrovnik, Croatia, or to Mostar, Bosnia on Sunday, to make the most of your time in the Balkan Peninsula. On the way home on Monday, make a pit stop to swim in the magnificent waterfalls of Krka National Park.
Please note: We drive up through Italy, crossing through Slovenia before entering Croatia. No ferries are involved in the transport to and from Croatia. Although rare, departure times are subject to change.

The trip departs Florence from the Santa Maria Novella train station Thursday evening. The meeting point is in the International Ticketing Hall opposite tracks 8 and 9. Please meet your trip leader at least 20 minutes prior to departure. Make sure to bring your passport and have it with you on the bus, as we will be driving through border control. Travel to Croatia is by private luxury coach with A/C, DVD, and bathroom. We make one 45 minute stop and drive overnight. Upon arrival to Split Friday morning, we will check into our accommodation. Please note, travel time to and from Split may vary due to Schengen zone regulations enforced at the Croatian border.
Friday you have all day to explore Split and its surrounding areas. Bus2alps will organize a river rafting trip on the Cetina River or a zip-lining activity through the lush valleys near Omiš. If you choose not to join any of the outdoor adventures, you can spend your day laying out on one of Split’s beaches, join an included walking tour of the Split city center, visit Diocletian’s Palace, rent a bike and ride up Marjan Hill or take a day trip to local surrounding towns, like Omiš.
Friday night there will be an included group dinner. After dinner, you can join an optional pub crawl (not included) to experience the best of Split’s bustling nightlife. Your Trip Leader will tell you where to meet if you are interested in joining the pub crawl. If you choose not to join the pub crawl, the night is free to explore Split.
Saturday you have all day to explore Split, the second largest city in Croatia and largest on the Dalmatian Coast. For those interested, Bus2alps will organize a private island cruise that heads to the Blue Lagoon. Meet in your hostel lobby Saturday morning before departing for the picturesque Blue Lagoon. Enjoy an included lunch between snorkeling and sunbathing before heading to Copacabana Beach where you are free to enjoy the pebble beaches, sip seaside cocktails or explore the natural beauty of the Adriatic. The full-day cruise will arrive back to Split around 6:30pm.
Saturday night your Trip Leader can provide you with recommendations for dinner or for checking out some of Split’s many great nightlife options.
There will be an optional day trip to Mostar, Bosnia that will depart first thing in the morning (not included). Otherwise, on Sunday you have all day to explore Split, the second largest city in Croatia and largest on the Dalmatian Coast. For those interested, Bus2alps will organize other activities (not included) that you can sign up for.
Monday morning, we will depart Split for Krka National Park. There you will have a few hours to swim and explore some of Mother Nature’s incredible waterfalls, most notably the Skradinski Buk. We will depart Krka for Florence in the late morning/early afternoon and will make one stop en-route for dinner.
Rafting the Cetina River: Experience an adventurous ride down Croatia’s natural beauty, the Cetina River. Duck through lush overgrown trees expanding over the river and find yourself in large scenic expanses as you rush down the Cetina. When we’re all finished and off the river, a traditional Croatian late lunch will be included featuring various entree options alongside local Croatian bread and a traditional dessert. Zip Lining: Get your adrenaline fix as you soar over Croatia’s stunning wilderness. Your views while experiencing 8 separate zip lines will include the breathtaking emerald-green Cetina River winding through the valleys near Omiš. Approximate Cost: 65 EUR
Pub Crawl: Immerse yourself in a mix of Split’s top pubs, bars and clubs, while getting to know other fellow travelers! Approximate Cost: 20 EUR/150 Kuna (paid in cash in person)
Day Trip to Dubrovnik: Spend Saturday wandering the Old Town of Dubrovnik and feel like you are in a scene from Game of Thrones first-hand! Approximate Cost: 45 EUR
Day Trip to Mostar, Bosnia: Spend Sunday exploring a new country rich with history and amazing sights! Approximate Cost: 45 EUR
Private Island Cruise: Spend your day sailing along the coastline on a private boat and visiting the Blue Lagoon. The cruise includes a grilled fish, veggie or chicken lunch with bread, wine and water. This exclusive boat tour will take you through the Blue Lagoon to Copacabana Beach where you can enjoy the afternoon on their pebble beaches.
